Super Mario Odyssey: A MasterPiece!

Super Mario Odyssey remains a masterpiece of gameplay, and the best title currently available for the Nintendo Switch! I had to make it up to myself and gamers after reviewing two horrible platformers beforehand. The motion controls are both fluid and nuanced in Odyssey, simple to pick up but challenging to master! The open end worlds Nintendo has created are nothing short of breathtaking! Not only can you fight enemies in Super Mario Odyssey, but you can capture them and utilize their powers in the game.

All of the most critical elements of past Mario titles including Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine are blended together flawlessly in Odyssey. The worlds are vivid with color and life as Mario platforms between both Earth and the Mushroom Kingdom with ease! The level design sets the gold standard for every platformer following, there is no match. Every map feels fresh and new, the worlds Mario traverses more organic and teeming with life! Fun is an inadequate description of Super Mario Odyssey, it is merely a pure joy to experience! The game also runs at a silky smooth 60FPS with zero input lag!

Not since Super Mario 64 has a game been this much fun to play. The soundtrack is lush, orchestral and beautiful! Mario is still as charming a character as ever, and it is heartwarming to see that Nintendo always treats this platforming franchise with dignity and respect unlike other developers (*cough* *cough* Sega *cough*)! Brand new game mechanics keep every moment of Mario Odyssey fresh, but all the tried and true mechanics that make Super Mario amazing all shine through. 

There is little more to say than that Super Mario Odyssey is the definitive best Nintendo Switch title, and along with the latest Zelda iteration, the #1 reason to purchase the console! When a game is such a pure joy to play, and so flawless in execution, criticism cannot do it justice. The best platformer of 2017 bar none!
