The Year Of Super Mario Odyssey & Sub-Par Platforming Competition

It is official, Super Mario Odyssey is the best platforming game of 2017! The gameplay is next to flawless, highly innovative mechanics dominate the experience, and every moment is a joy. Its a pity this cannot be said of ANY other platforming releases this year, which are entering the drowning phase.

Sonic Forces remains a profoundly underwhelming release by SEGA, with reused gameplay mechanics from both Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors. And Super Lucky's Tale along with Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back remain excellent examples of why the platformer genre is going down the toilet. Both featured terrible graphics and broken gameplay! Cringe-inducing protagonists and awful storylines. The platformer is a dying genre, and only Super Mario holds the crown.

America is in desperate need of a new platforming franchise. One that can compete with the likes of Mario, a new platformer that brings exact jump-and-run gameplay back to the masses. So far the phenomenal Cuphead release is the only serious contender! The game is priced for only $20.00! Cuphead features impressive cartoon graphics, an innovative mature storyline, and sublime 2D platforming mechanics! It's a real shame that more games are not following suit in innovation. Playing it safe is the buzz word of 2017, which is why so many titles have failed to deliver on their promises.

Gamers demand a revolution, one where innovation and gameplay are at the forefront once more! Not tired and shoddy DLC packages, bundled with infuriating microtransactions and pointless grinding! No more putting up with subpar releases that need post-patch fixing. No more terrible platformers with boring and mediocre characters! We demand a change!
