The Death Of Retail Outlets

As more and more video games go via the route of digital download, the retail chains will begin to fall behind. Why would someone risk buying a disk that can physically tear itself apart? Or wear out? More and more, consumers want the convenience of digital downloads. The ease of access, the wide variety of selection and not needing to worry about physical teardown, are all attractive concepts to gamers.

I suspect that digital downloading will become the standard rule for gaming developers as opposed to the exception. Physical CD's are getting phased out, as digital content becomes the golden standard.
